Scores continue to climb on day two of the Verizon Heritage at Harbour Town Golf Links which is celebrating its 40th year anniversary. Five-time champion Davis Love III who shared the lead after Thursday's round and defending champion Boo Weekley are both on the course finishing their morning rounds. 10:40 - Davis Love III just finished his first nine holes of the day; he started on No. 10. Love III missed a couple of short birdie putts on the backside this morning and lipped out a short par putt on No. 3 on his way to a 35 on his way in. He birdied the signature 18th hole to get back to 5-under which is where he began today's round. Playing with Love III, Jim Furyk is also making a move. He is currently tied with Love III at 5-under par and is 2-under for his round. Justin Rose, who won last year's Order of Merit on the European Tour and is currently ranked No. 7 in the Official World Golf Rankings, withdrew after an opening round 76 sighting a bad back. 11:08 - Defending champion Boo Weekley, 2006 champion Aaron Baddley and crowd favorite Jonathan Byrd, who played his college golf at Clemson University, are all 4-under-par for the day and share the lead with three other players at 6-under. Actually scratch that, things are changing quite quickly this morning on the leaderboard. Another former Clemson Tiger, Lucas Glover, just birdied No. 2 to become the first golfer to get to minus-7 and take sole possession of the lead. 12:06 - Boo Weekley is firing on all cylinders today. Weekley's birdie barrage has him at 7-under on the day heading to the par-3 17th hole. He is on pace to shoot a 64 if he pars out. The course record of 61 was set by David Frost in 1961. 12:25 - Weekley pars 17 and 18 and finishes with a 64 to put him at 9-under-par for the tournament. He holds a share of the lead with Lucas Glover. Glover, a native of Greenville, SC and graduate of Clemson University, has only one career PGA TOUR win. It came in the fall series during the 2005 season when Glover won the Funai Classic at Walt Disney World Resort. His best finish this year was a tie for 14 at the Shell Houston Open two weeks ago. Glover is a three-time South Carolina Amateur Champion. 12:39: Boo Weekley is expected in the interview room in a matter of minutes. Weekley has now recorded six consecutive rounds in the 60s at the Verizon Heritage. The record for most consecutive rounds in the 60s belongs to Nick Price who did it nine times in a row. Greg Norman accomplished the feat over seven straight rounds. 1:05: There have been eight repeat winners of the Verizon Heritage; Hale Irwin (3), Johnny Miller (2), Hubert Green (2), Tom Watson (2), Fuzzy Zoeller (2), Payne Stewart (2), Stewart Cink (2) and Davis Love III (5). Boo Weekley looks like he could be next in line and is certainly enjoying being the defending champion. "It's always fun to see all the people pulling for you and chanting your name," said Weekley after his round. "This tournament will always have a special place in my heart." Weekley said even without an accurate driver he was able to hit some solid long irons and fairway woods to put him in birdie position throughout the round. He also said the course is playing about two strokes easier than last year. As far as allowing himself to think he can defend his championship, Weekley said, "I felt like it on the first hole, the first day." 1:21: There are six golfers at 6-under-par, four shots off the pace set by new leader Lucas Glover who finished his round with a birdie on No. 9. Jay Williamson, Jason Bohn, Jonathan Byrd, Jim Furyk, Aaron Baddeley and Mark Turnesa are all six-under for the tournament. Davis Love III finished the day at 5-under after carding an even par 71. Of the players out on the course right now, Anthony Kim, John Rollins, Justin Leonard and Camilo Villegas can all make a run to the top of the leaderboard by posting a low number in round 2. 2:09: Camilo Villegas has birdied two of his first three holes this afternoon. He started on the front nine which has been easier in terms of scoring thus far. It wouldn't be a complete shock if he finished his round at 8 or 9-under-par. The 26-year-old Columbian has never won on the PGA TOUR. There are now 11 players 4 shots off the lead at 6-under. Of that group, Cliff Kresge, Anthony Kim, Stewart Cink and Justin Leonard are out on the course with plenty of holes to play. It's looking like it would be a miracle if this thing doesn't go to a playoff Sunday with so many players near the lead. A surprise name below the projected cut line is Zach Johnson who followed up an even-par 71 with a 4-over 75. Looks like his title defense at Augusta National took a lot out of him.
