HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC - Three PGA TOUR standouts, Stephen Ames, Chad Campbell and Fred Funk, have all committed to the 39th annual Verizon Heritage taking place over the Harbour Town Golf Links, April 9-15th. They join a select field that already includes Defending Champion Aaron Baddeley, Ernie Els, Jim Furyk, Chris DiMarco, Davis Love III, John Daly and Stewart Cink. All will be shooting for the record winner’s prize of $972,000 from the tournament’s largest purse of $5.4 million. Stephen won THE PLAYERS Championship last year by blowing away the competition with a 5-under 67 in the final round to win by six shots. He has already carded two top ten finishes in the 2007 season. Stephen is making his sixth Harbour Town appearance. Chad had a breakout year in 2003 when he won the season-ending TOUR Championship. He finished last year’s season having won more than $2 million and finished in the top 30 on the TOUR money list for the fourth straight season. This year, Chad is currently 32nd on the money list with $661,818 in earnings. This will be his fifth time at the Verizon Heritage. Fred is finding success on both the PGA TOUR and the Champions Tour this year. In only his second Champions Tour event of the season he won the Turtle Bay Championship by 11 strokes. He shot his best round of the year, a first round 62, to help clinch the PGA TOUR’s 2007 Mayakoba Golf Classic at Riviera Maya-Cancun. In 2005, he became the oldest winner of the THE PLAYERS Championship at 48 years, nine months and 14 days. He will be making his 17th consecutive appearance at Harbour Town.
