Four! More big names committ to Verizon Heritage |

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC – A prestigious quartet of PGA TOUR shotmakers – Davis Love III, Tom Lehman, Charles Howell III and Stephen Ames – have just made commitments to play in the Verizon Heritage, Tournament Director Steve Wilmot announced today. This group will be joining a field that already includes Defending Champion Boo Weekley, Ernie Els, Jim Furyk, Justin Leonard and Stewart Cink. All will be taking aim at the winner’s check of $990,000 from a record purse of $5.5 million. The Verizon Heritage will be celebrating its 40th Anniversary April 14-20 over the Harbour Town Golf Links. Love, a five-time champion at Harbour Town and the tournament’s leading money earner, will be making his 23rd straight appearance, with 11 Top Ten finishes. Davis, from nearby Sea Island, GA, has won 19 PGA TOUR events and more than $35 million. Lehman, a former British Open winner, has earned 5 wins during his 26 years on TOUR. Tom has three Top Ten finishes here, including a heart-breaking second in 2000. Howell, a two-time Junior Heritage Champion from nearby Augusta, has been threatening to crack golf’s elite level. He’ll be making his first Harbour Town appearance in five years. Ames, a native of Trinidad, who now makes his home in Canada, has been a solid TOUR veteran, with three victories and more than $13 million in earnings. He’s had a pair of Top Ten Harbour Town finishes. The Hilton Head/ Bluffton Chamber of Commerce is also selling badges at their three locations: the mid island office next to the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina at Shelter Cove, The Welcome Center on the north end of the island next to the Crazy Crab Restaurant and at the Bluffton Office inside the Liberty Saving Bank building located at the Belfair Towne Village. Current Verizon Heritage Tournament Field (Subject to Change) Under the PGA TOUR Tournament Regulations a player may withdraw at any time prior to the commitment deadline. Therefore these commitments should be considered provisional.
